Doreen Wood (Galchutt) paints images that embody love and are affirmations of love and life-the most important things to her.  Romantic settings, landscapes and dapples with sunlight are a few of her favorite subjects.  Doreen paints the canvas with a passionate intensity that transfers her feelings and perceptions to her creation.   She possesses an almost magical ability to develop  works that resonate with texture, color and light.  Her passionate impressionistic style captures the energy of movement and the essence of her subjects with warmth and romance.

"The art that I paint reminds me of how magnificent the world is.  What drives me to paint is an inner desire to bring expression to the wonderful qualities that I find in the world around me and to explore all the possibilities that the painting medium has as tools to communicate.  I try to paint a feeling or mood, not just a picture.  If I can give someone a moment of escape from the everyday world through a painting, we've shared something, and that's important."
